Ahead of their departure on Wednesday, Bavuma said India will be in good hands with KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and many other senior players in the squad.
“We don’t have the luxury to rest players. India may be resting a few players but the guys who are playing are also in good form and are great players,” Temba Bavuma said at the pre-departure press conference.

For South Africa, who last played a T20 match in the T20 World Cup, will kick start their T20 World Cup 2022 preparations with India series.
“The important thing is to prepare for the World Cup. The guys need to be in a competitive space. And India series will be an important part of the competitive process. The conditions would be different than Australia but it would be important for us to be in that competitive space,” Bavuma said.

On preparations:
We haven’t got together as a team but the rest of the team had good sessions. We will arrive a bit early to get familiarised.
On workload management
With multiple formats, it will be important to manage the workload, especially the bowlers.
IPL form and Tristan Stubbs
It’s good to have players in form. It was good to see David (Miller) lifting the trophy with Gujarat. Others had good seasons too. Stubbs is a great young talent.

Favourites to win?
The important thing is to prepare for the World Cup. The guys need to be in a competitive space. We don’t have the luxury to rest players. The conditions would be different.

David Miller:
He has performed exceedingly well in IPL. Whatever feelings of insecurity he had are gone now. We will have a conversation. He is an important member of the team. If he feels he can add more value higher up the order, it is a conversation to have.
On Umran Malik
He is an exciting pace bowling prospect. IPL has been able to unearth these talents. We too have bowlers who can bowl at 150 consistently.
On Dewald Brevis:
He is another exciting prospect. But he has not played any four-day game in South Africa. He needs to play a few First Class games. Otherwise, it will be unfair to throw him into international cricket. We have to tread carefully and ease him into international cricket.
