IND vs SA ODI: Star India opener Shikhar Dhawan is all geared up for India vs South Africa ODI series. India and South Africa will play three T20Is and three ODIs with each other from September 28. As the ODI series is just before the ICC T20 World Cup, BCCI will give chance to new players in the 50-over series by resting the India squad who participated in the SA T20 series. With an eye on winning the three-match ODI series vs South Africa, Shikhar Dhawan has started sweating it out in the nets. On Thursday, star opener shared a photo on his social media handles in which he could be seen all padded up on the field. The 36-year-old captioned the post on Instagram: “Gearing up for #IndVsSA”.

Notably, India’s squad for the three-match ODI series vs South Africa is yet to be announced. But it has been widely reported that the players who are part of the T20 WC squad will not play in the 50-over series.

It is very likely that India’s T20 team will leave for Australia before the ODI series. For this reason, the BCCI will choose a different team for ODIs against South Africa.

VVS Laxman, Head Cricket, National Cricket Academy (NCA) will be the interim head coach for Team India (Senior Men) for the ODI series against SA. Laxman, who travelled with the Indian team that played the ODI series in Zimbabwe will oversee the team’s preparation in the absence of Rahul Dravid.
