Hanuma Vihari’s resilience came to an end on Day 1 after Rassie van der Dussen pulled off a brilliant catch at short leg. Vihari, who was brought into the side after Virat Kohli was out injured, looked good in his partnership with stand-in captain Virat Kohli before a Kagiso Rabada delivery got the better off him.
Batting on 20, Vihari was rushed into defence after being surprised by a Rabada bouncer, which hit his glove and popped up in the air. The ball had passed van der Dussen at short leg, but the South African made a full-length dive to grab a sensational catch. Watch the video here:

Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane were dismissed off back to back deliveries as the Indian veterans failed yet again to make the most of their opportunity. Pujara managed to score just 3 before edging one off Olivier. Rahane walked in but was off were a golden duck as India slipped to 49/3 in the 1st session.
This presented Hanuma Vihari with the perfect opportunity to stamp his authority but the Andhra born batter failed to grab his chance. Vihari was in fact dropped on 9 by Temba Bavuma but could only add 11 to his tally before Dussen ended his stay in the crease.
