IND vs SA 2nd Test: Rohit Sharma misses out on fifty after promising start

Rohit Sharma could not score his maiden fifty in South Africa despite a promising start in IND vs SA 2nd Test in Cape Town.

Team India skipper Rohit Sharma has extended his run without scoring a half-century in South Africa to 11 innings. But this time, India captain had a promising start, scoring at over 100 strike rate until Kagiso Rabada broke his rhythm with a brilliant over. And then, Nandre Burger completed the job with a sharp short ball that Rohit had no answer to in the IND vs SA 2nd Test in Cape Town.

Despite losing opener Yashasvi Jaiswal early, the Indian skipper didn’t shy away from playing positive shots against Lungi Ngidi and Marco Jansen.

However despite the aggressive approach, Rohit will return without a half-century. He has had disastrous numbers on South African soil. In 11 innings, the Indian opener has scored just 167 runs at an average of mere 15.18.

Rohit struggled in the Centurion Test as well, scoring just 5 in the first innings and a duck in second as India suffered a crushing defeat.

However, the Indian skipper looked different and more positive when he came out to bat after visitors were bundled out for a paltry 55.
