IND vs SA 1st Test: 250 on this wicket would be good enough, says Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer, who scored a valiant 31 on Day 1 of IND vs SA 1st Test, said that reaching 250 would be sufficient on the challenging pitch.

India batter Shreyas Iyer said that a 250 score in the first innings will be a good score in challenging conditions and will put India in a fighting position against South Africa in the IND vs SA 1st Test at Centurion.

Iyer, who scored a valiant 31 on Day 1 of the match, said that reaching 250 would be sufficient.

“A good total has been posted, reaching 250 would be sufficient. The match will be challenging; considering what’s happening on the wicket and the injury to their batsman, hopefully, we won’t have to take too many wickets. Let’s see how today unfolds”, Iyer said on Star Sports ahead of Day 2’s play.

Iyer also lauded KL Rahul’s unbeaten 70-run knock on the opening day and claimed that Centurion is lucky for the wicketkeeper-batter.

“The way KL is batting looks positive, and the field seems fortunate for him. Last time he was here, he scored 123 runs, so he has experience. When you bat with tailenders, you also get freedom”, Iyer added.
