IND vs SA 1st ODI: New and young India Cricket Team ready for Proteas challenge in ODIs

IND vs SA 1st ODI: New and young India Cricket Team under KL Rahul's captaincy ready for South African challenge in ODIs

The T20I series is done and dusted as the India Cricket Team gear up for a 3-match T20I series. With the 2024 T20 World Cup fast approaching, the focus on ODIs will be less, but the Men in Blue will be keen to put up a good show against the Proteas in the IND vs SA 1st ODI on 17th December at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

This will be India’s first return to the 50-over format since the humiliating ODI World Cup 2023 Finals loss to Australia. With some of the seniors and the usual suspects missing action, the Men in Blue will be lead by KL Rahul. After a 1-1 T20I series draw, the Indian team will be ready too go all guns blazing at their opponent to establish their dominance in the ODI series.

It is safe to say that India’s second string of players or rather the B-Team will play the 50-over matches. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli the two highest run getters in the ODI World Cup missing out, India will test their strength against the Proteas with a team of youngsters.

The South African side will also miss the likes of some senior players. The Proteas too have quite a few young players amidst their mixes. The absence of Quinton de Kock is likely to be reflected in the top batting order as skipper Aiden Markram will be keen to go all guns blazing against the Men in Blue.
