Pakistan was off to a horrible start with skipper Babar Azam departing for a golden duck. Soon to follow his skipper was Mohd Rizwan. On came Iftikhar Ahmed and he recovered his side’s disastrous start with a solid partnership with Shan Masood. Ahmed started slowly to get a hang of the pitch and the bowling conditions and then opened his scoring.
With a strike rate of 150, Iftikhar took just 34 deliveries to reach his fifty. His well-knit innings consisted of 2 fours and 4 sixes as he steered his side to post a respectable score on the board. However, the highlight of his innings came in Axar Patel’s over. Right on the groove, Ahmed welcomed the Indian spinner with a huge six.

Axar Falters on his First Over:
It was a bad start for Axar Patel who went on to concede 21 runs on his opening over. First delivery and Iftikhar clears mid-wicket for a colossal sixer. The batter went on the charge again on the third ball when he hit over the screen for a sixer. Next delivery and yet again a sixer. Full-length delivery and Iftikhar cleared the long-off despite KL Rahul trying his best to take a catch off the boundary line. With 18 runs coming off in the first four balls, Rizwan kept the strike with him when took 3 runs in the last ball of the over as he brought his Fifty.
Iftikhar’s onslaught was short-lived. In the very next over, Mohammad Shami with a peach of a delivery dismissed him. A full-length delivery off the middle and off stump saw Rizwan attempting a wild shot staying on the crease. Iftikhar misses badly as the ball hits right in the pads. Shami takes no time to appeal and the umpire raises his finger to dismiss the batter.
