1. Should KL Rahul open?
KL Rahul has had a torrid time with the bat since his return to the Indian team. After a long injury layoff, KL returned to the Indian side but has failed to get going being dismissed cheaply. Rahul thus could be shunted down the order where he initially made his mark in the format. Given that he is vice-captain, it is unlikely that the 30-year-old will be dropped from the XI.
2. Dinesh Karthik or Rishabh Pant?
At totally different ends of their careers, Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik have been caught in the selection muddle as Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid ponder on India’s best XI. 3. Avesh Khan or Ravichandran Ashwin?
Avesh Khan has struggled to make his mark as the third seamer in the Indian attack, going for plenty in both games so far. An economy of 9.10 after 15 games does not paint a positive picture of the Madhya Pradesh seamer heading into the knockout stages. With the pitches in UAE slowing down, Ravichandran Ashwin could be a smart pick given his experience and expertise. The veteran can also double up as a new ball bowler, while provide depth to the Indian batting.
