Team India, after a disappointing show with the red-ball in the New Zealand and Australia series’, with turn their attention to T20Is now. Suryakumar Yadav‘s men will face the touring England team from Jan 22, in 5 T20Is, and subsequently 3 ODIs as well. And there will be one big change in this entire setup.
Team India Camp from Jan 18
As per a report in the Indian Express, Sitanshu Kotak will join the team as the new batting coach. Not just that, India will reach Kolkata on Jan 18, the venue for the 1st T20I, and take part in a three-day camp. “Kotak will be joining the Indian team as a batting coach. The Indian team will be having a three-day camp in Kolkata and players will be reporting on January 18,” a source in the Indian board said.
The BCCI announced the squad for the T20Is last week, while the members for the ODIs and the Champions Trophy are to be revealed on Jan 18-19. Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal weren’t named in the squad, who played the entire Border-Gavaskar Trophy. But the biggest news that came was, Mohammed Shami made a comeback to the Indian squad after a gap of a year.

Surprise Picks for ENG T20Is
Surprisingly, Dhruv Jurel was also given a space in the T20I team, with no great credentials as a T20 player. Apart from that, Jasprit Bumrah, who injured his back during the Sydney Test, was also not picked. Mohammed Siraj too was given a rest for the series, with Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh as the other two pacers.
Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya was removed as vice-captain and all-rounder Axar Patel was preferred. Nitish Kumar Reddy was another all-rounder who made the cut.
