Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah chose not to participate in Friday’s practice session, but they would like to warm up in preparation for the upcoming India vs England match. The practice session on Friday placed particular emphasis on the lower-order batters, as India is bracing for a period without Hardik Pandya due to injury. The tail-enders received an extended training session in Lucknow. Following their bowling drills, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav engaged in an extensive batting session. Same is expected in Friday’s net session.

It was clear that the think tank wanted to strengthen both their batting and bowling aspects, especially following Pandya’s left-ankle injury, which had disrupted the team’s all-round balance. The team management is contemplating the inclusion of Ravichandran Ashwin in the lineup.

The decision to bring Ravichandran Ashwin into the team might pose a challenge for the management. However, after seeing England’s defeat to Sri Lanka by eight wickets at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday, India could seriously contemplate making this change.

As the Ekana pitch is expected to be favorable to spinners, this move would align with India’s strategy against England. If Ashwin gets the nod, he might replace either Mohammed Shami or Mohammed Siraj. Ashwin had an extensive session covering both batting and bowling on Thursday.
