IND vs ENG Practice Live: All eyes on Pandya replacement as India hit nets today

Ahead of the team's match against ENG, India will have a optional practice session today in Lucknow. Rohit Sharma aim to fix Pandya puzzle

IND vs ENG Practice LIVE: India will have an optional training session today from 6:00 PM onwards at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. All eyes will be on Hardik Pandya’s replacement in the training session, as the all-rounder is ruled out of the Cricket World Cup clash against England. In the match against New Zealand, Mohammed Shami played as Pandya’s replacement. The pacer immediately made an impact as he picked up five wickets.

However, with Ekana surface set to aid spinners, Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid might think of playing Ashwin as well. The optional training session will shed light on India’s team combination against England. If India indeed decides to go with Ashwin as the option, then whom they drop will be a big headache.

IND vs ENG Practice: Pandya problem

With Pandya gone, India’s balance is hugely impacted. The all-rounder used to bowl six overs as the fifth bowling option and also used to finish matches for the team. The management has one bowling all-rounder in Shardul Thakur. However, he has so far failed to live up to the expectations in his primary role as a bowler.

India have lost trust in Thakur as he leaks plenty of runs. InsideSport had earlier reported that the management is thinking of playing Shami in Pandya’s absence as the former is a wicket-taking option in the power play and death overs. In the batting role, Suryakumar filled in at number 6.

It is still not clear whether India will go in with the same combination against England. Today’s IND vs ENG Practice session could possibly give a hint on this situation.
