Rishabh Pant went on to become India’s savior as he stitched up a wonderful partnership with Ravindra Jadeja and brought up his test ton in an emphatic fashion to bring applause from the Indian cricket fans.
Rishabh Pant achieved some major milestones with his splendid knock. He went on to score his century in just 89 deliveries. This was the fastest century by an Indian wicketkeeper. At Edgbaston, this became the fastest century ever scored in Test cricket. A sub-100 ball century have never been scored at Edgbaston which has hosted test matches since 1902.
Rishabh Pant also went past 2000 runs in test cricket. This was a huge milestone on his part. It took Pant just 51 innings to register this feat. Ahead of the match at Edgbaston, Pant was 80 runs short of his target.

Next, Pant became the 3rd Indian to score a century at Edgbaston. He became the third visiting keeper to score a test century at Edgbaston after the likes of Adam Gilchrist and Denesh Ramdin. Following his exploits, Pant and Jadeja broke another milestone as the duo went on to put up India’s highest sixth-wicket stand against England.
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was next on the crease. The duo formed a solid partnership. They maintained a solid running between the wickets and went for big hits occasionally. Pant infused life into the innings by hitting spinner Jack Leach for 4,4,6 in the 37th over. With this, Jadeja and Pant completed their 50-run partnership.
Rishabh Pant also went on to break Sachin Tendulkar’s unique record. In International cricket Pant scored 100 sixes at the age of 24. Sachin on the other hand, achieved this mega feat at the age of 25.
