The BCCI is making arrangements and he is expected to travel on June 23-24. However, he will miss the warm-up match against Leicestershire starting June 24. While Jayant Yadav was kept on standby and was sent to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, InsideSport has learnt that Ashwin has ended his 7-day isolation. He is doing well and will join the team on June 23-24.

“Yes, Ashwin has completed his quarantine. He is fine healthwise. We are making arrangements for a flight and he should join the squad in Leicester on June 23-24. Last-minute arrangements are being chalked out,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

Ashwin Tests Covid Positive: Ashwin tested positive last week, two days before Team India’s departure in a pre-departure test. His quarantine ends on Tuesday. The first batch of players including Virat Kohli left for the UK on June 16.

“Ashwin hasn’t travelled with the squad to UK as he has tested positive for Covid 19 before departure. But we are hopeful that he will recover well in time before the Test match starts on July 1,” a BCCI source confirmed to PTI on Monday.

The rest of the squad is already in Leicester and started training under the supervision of bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and batting coach Vikram Rathour.

Rahul Dravid, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer have reached London after finishing the T20 assignment against South Africa and will travel to Leicester on Tuesday.

The Ireland-bound squad under VVS Laxman will leave for Dublin on either June 23 or 24 as the team members have been given a three-day rest.
