Concern grows among Indian fans as the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, Shreyas Iyer and Hanuma Vihari all failed to make their chances count. India had a day to forget on Day 1, before troubles continued on Day 2 against Leicestershire.
Hanuma Vihari, who featured at No.3 for India, was dismissed for just 3 off 23 balls, struggling to make an impact. To make matters worse, Shreyas Iyer perished for an 11-ball duck as India collapsed to 4/55.
Virat Kohli did spend some time in the middle but perished unable to make the most of his start, being dismissed for 33. On Day 2, Cheteshwar Pujara, who batted for Leicestershire, fell for a six-ball duck off Mohammed Shami.

After a dull Day 1 of the Indian batsmen barring Srikar Bharat, Day 2 raised further concern as Cheteshwar Pujara perished without scoring early. The veteran who made a comeback on the back of incredible performances in County Cricket, failed to make the most of his chance and Rahul Dravid willl eye for a quick solution to the problem ahead of the IND vs ENG 5th Test.
India have a good competition for places in the middle order, but the failure of all them in the tour game should have the alarm bells ringing for head coach Rahul Dravid. Kohli did show some resilience, but couldn’t convert it into a big knock, a problem that hae bugged him for the past couple of years.
Hanuma Vihari and Shreyas Iyer who broke into the team on a regular basis recently, could face the axe should they not gets under their belt in the second innings. Pujara is unlikely to have an opportunity to play in the 4-day contest, with him turning out for Leicestershire.
