Notably, Kohli is now only behind Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentine football icon Lionel Messi in terms of Instagram followers among athletes. Ronaldo has 451 million followers, while Messi has 334 million.

The 33-year-old also uploaded a video on his Instagram account after reaching the 200 million followers mark, with the caption “200 mil strong. Thanks for all your support Insta fam.” Meanwhile, Kohli happens to be the only Indian to have crossed the 100-million followers mark, let alone 200 million.

Behind him is Priyanka Chopra, who has 78 million followers on her account. Fellow Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor and singer Neha Kakkar comes third and fourth on that list respectively, while in fifth place is the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.

Meanwhile, the Indian team will be playing a five-match T20I series against South Africa that starts this Thursday, June 9, but Kohli will not be seen playing in this tour. He, alongside many other star players like skipper Rohit Sharma and pacer Jasprit Bumrah, has been handed some much-needed rest by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), keeping in mind the upcoming tour of England.
