To beat India in India…: Ravi Shastri comes up with unique plan for England

IND vs ENG: After winning the first Test in Hyderabad, England just haven't been able to challenge India in the ongoing series.

Having lost the series already 1-3, many had expected England to comeback strong against the Indians, in the final Test at Dharamshala, given their home-like conditions. In fact, the visitors did give some hope after opting to bat first; they were 100/1 at one stage. But the joy was only short-lived for them, as they were all out for 218.

Post that, their bowling also struggled, as, in reply India ended day on 135-1. This prompted former India coach Ravi Shastri to start a discussion, as to what went wrong for England during the series. While commentating during India’s innings, Shastri said, that England needed entire home bowling attack, as well as Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

“To beat India in India, England need the entire bowling attack of India’s. They need a Yashasvi Jaiswal, a Rohit Sharma and a couple of others,” Shastri said during commentary, quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times. It was the turn of Sanjay Manjrekar then, who added, “So basically they need to outsource resources.”

Meanwhile, Shastri did not stop there, and went on to say that England hasn’t been able to challenge India in India, since 2012.

“Absolutely. And it’s not new. It’s been for a long time. 2012 was the last time England won a series in India and since then, they haven’t even been able to tickle India, let alone win a series,” he added.
