Yashasvi Jaiswal’s dream debut slips into a nightmare after shoddy fielding, 2nd innings failure

IND vs ENG 1st Test: Yashasvi Jaiswal dropped 3 catches and was dismissed for 4 as his dream debut soon slipped to a nightmare

After a record breaking century in the 1st innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s first outing in England has turned into a nightmare. The young left-hander has had an up and down IND vs ENG 1st Test, with Day 3 being a low point for the 23-year-old. Jaiswal scored 101 on Day 1, but proceeded to drop 3 catches and got a low score in the 2nd innings for his Test to come to a crashing halt.

Slippery Yashasvi Jaiswal’s dream game turns into perfect nightmare

Yashasvi Jaiswal was given an ovation as he made way into the dressing room after being dismissed for 101 on Day 1 of the IND vs ENG 1st Test. He became the first Indian to score centuries in his first test in both England and Australia. However, those highs were followed by a series of lows for the 23-year-old.

Jaiswal had a horror day in the field. The Mumbai star dropped 3 regulation catches to help England take down India’s 471. His first drop was of Ben Duckett for 15. The left-hander opener managed to score 62 building the foundation for England. He then grassed Ollie Pope for 60, who later went on to score a stunning century. Jaiswal then dropped Brook for 83, who was eventually dismissed for 99.

Yashasvi’s shoddy fielding comes after he was lambasted for fielding lapses in Australia. The 23-year-old was guilty of being poor in the field in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, earning a earful from then captain Rohit Sharma on the field.

Century in the 1st, failure in the second

By the second session on Day 3 of the IND vs ENG 1st Test, Yashasvi Jaiswal looked well out of confidence. That translated into his batting, with an early dismissal in the 2nd innings. While the 23-year-old looked assured in the 1st essay, it was quite the opposite in the 2nd. He played 11 balls, scoring a boundary with a square cut. It was his only scoring shot, as he then caught the edge off Brydon Carse to the keeper.
