Starting the 1st session, Najmul Hossain Shanto (5) was removed by Ravichandran Ashwin in the second over of the day. Mominul Haque also had a short stay at the crease as his prized wicket was scalped by Mohammed Siraj on 5. Hosts’ skipper Shakib Al Hasan was next to depart in the very first over of Jaydev Unadkat in the morning session. Axar Patel then joined the wicket-taking party as he removed Mushfiqur Rahim.
Bangladesh was trailing by 80 runs when Day 2 of the second Test came to an end. India were all out after scoring 314 runs on the board in the first innings of the second test here at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka.
Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer scored half-centuries, guiding India to 314, giving them 87-run lead. The hosts then ended the day with seven runs on the board in their second innings.

Earlier in the day resuming the day at it at 19/0, Bangladesh’s bowlers put India in a spot of bother. Spinner Taijul Islam picked up two quick wickets in the first session. He dismissed KL Rahul and Shubman Gill. Virat Kohli and Pujara then steadied the innings. But then Taijul struck for the third time to dismiss Pujara for 24 runs. The wicket reduced India to 72/3. Virat was unbeaten on 18 runs while Pant made 14 before the umpires called the lunch break, with India at 86/3.
Soon after the lunch, Virat Kohli got out cheaply to Taskin Ahmed that left India reeling at 94/4. Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer then steadied the ship as both the batters played some attacking strokes. Both the batters smashed half-centuries and built a 150-run stand that gave India the lead.
After tea, Pant got out in the 90s for the fifth time in his career as Mehidy Hasan Miraz dismissed him for 93 caught behind by wicket-keeper Nurul Hasan. Shreyas Iyer too couldn’t scorte a century as he got out leg before wicket for 87. Bangladesh bowlers soon wrapped up India’s lower order as India were bowled out for 314 taking a lead of 87 runs in first innings.
