After five days of proper Test action, Team India finally arrived at a result as they defended the target by 188 runs. After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Indian team put up 404 runs in the first innings with Pujara scoring 90 runs off 203 balls and Shreyas Iyer contributing 86 runs.
The 92-run partnership between R Ashwin (58 off 113) and Kuldeep Yadav (40 off 114) were crucial to bring up the score. The spinners Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz each picked four wickets and they were the pick of the bowlers.
With the ball, the Indian bowlers bowled extremely well and dismissed all the batters for 150 runs with M Rahim being their top scorer scoring 28 runs. The Left-arm wristy Kuldeep Yadav recorded his third fifer.
India got the privilege to impose follow on but the team opted to bat again and the prodigy Shubman Gill proved his worth in the team by constructing his maiden Test Hundred along with Pujara(who fell short of scoring a century in the first innings) as he registered his quickest Test ton.

With a huge target of 513 runs, the Bangladesh openers N H Shanto (67 off 156) and Zakir Hasan (100 off 224) provided a solid start partnering for 124 runs. The Indian bowlers came back in after breaking the partnership and took wickets at regular intervals.
With the match heading to the final day, Bangladesh needed 241 runs with still four wickets remaining. Their skipper Shakib Al Hasan fought hard striking 84 runs but it was the Indian bowlers who took authority and bowled out the opposition. Axar Patel was the pick of the bowlers in the second innings as he dismissed four batters.
