Karthik, who was left stranded at the non-striker’s end after Virat Kohli did not respond to his call, was caught short even though the senior batter put in a dive. Both Kohli and Karthik were seen being involved in an animated chat even as the Bangladesh players started celebrating the wicket. Despite the decision being referred to the third umpire, the two senior batters were seen continuing their discussion with Karthik not happy at all.
It should have been Kohli’s call because the ball went behind the bowler, but Kohli never called for the run, leaving Karthik marching forward. The wicketkeeper-batter seemed to suggest to Kohli that his eyes should have been on Karthik, rather animatedly.
It must be noted that Karthik is having a horrible time in the World Cup, the right-handed batter has scored just 14 runs in the 4 matches in the tournament so far. There were also some reports that Karthik will participate in the ongoing game against Bangladesh after he suffered back spasms, but the veteran was declared fit before the match and was named in the Indian playing XI.

Team India finished their innings on 184 runs in their allotted 20 overs with Kohli and opening batter KL Rahul stroking fifties with the bat. Batter Suryakumar Yadav also played a handy knock of 30 runs in just 16 deliveries which included four boundaries.
