According to Sarfaraz, he still can’t fathom that he wasn’t picked for the Australia Test Series. He also shared cryptic Instagram stories after getting ignored. The young cricketer has been in terrific form in Ranji for the past couple of seasons. The India vs Australia four-test match series in Border Gavaskar Trophy will be played next month. It’s safe to say that following the latest snub the middle-order batsman was not happy whatsoever.
Revealing his state of mind, he said, “When the team was announced and my name wasn’t there, I was sad the whole day, when we travelled from Guwahati to Delhi. I was feeling very lonely. I cried too. ”, he told TOI.
“I called my dad to Delhi. He spoke to me, I practised with him, and then felt better.
“I’m sure they (selectors) had certain plans in mind when they picked the team for the first two Tests (against Australia). Since, it’s not in my hands, I don’t want to think too much about it, otherwise I’ll go into depression,” he added.

Sarfaraz Khan shares CRYPTIC Instagram stories
In the first cryptic Instagram story Sarfaraz shared a graphic that shows a first-class average of 80.47. The 25-year-old is only behind cricket legend Don Bradman among batters with at least 50 innings. The second cryptic post showed his average of 110.73 for Mumbai in first-class matches.
Sarfaraz Khan had a pretty impressive Ranji Trophy last season. The right-hander scored a total of 982 runs at an average of 122.75. He amassed four centuries and two half-centuries with the highest score being 275. Talking about the ongoing edition, Sarfaraz has so far scored 431 runs. He has scored runs at an average of 107.75 which include two centuries, and one half-century.
So has he spoken to the SELECTORS?
“During the Ranji Trophy final, when I scored a century, I met the selectors. I was told that ‘you’ll get your opportunity in Bangladesh. Be ready for that. ’
Recently, I met Chetan Sharma sir (chief selector) in Mumbai. He asked me not to feel disheartened, and that my time will come. ”
India squad for IND vs AUS Test series
The BCCI on Friday named the India squad for the four-test series against Australia. The biggest setback for Team India would be absence of premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah.
Pacer will not be available for the first two tests as he continues his recovery from injury.
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will be making his comeback from injury subject to a fitness test.
Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav has been recalled in the Test Squad. He was named in Team India for England tour last year but did not get included in Playing XI.
