The continuous downpour on the opening day allowed only 13.2 overs to be bowled, with Australia reaching 0/28 before play was halted. As per CA’s refund policy, fans are eligible for a full refund if less than 15 overs are bowled. With the Gabba sold out, the refund figure is expected to exceed a staggering ₹8.5 crore. Despite late optimism, play was finally called off at 4:15pm local time (11:45 IST). Notably, CA was just 10 balls away from potentially saving itself over USD 1 million in refunds.
