- The series is mostly to have competitive practice ahead of World Cup.
- After Asia Cup failure, it will give Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma a chance to take a stock of the full-strength squad.
- Jasprit Bumrah will have six T20Is and 2 warm-up matches to get his rhythm back after recovering from injury.
- Similarly, the selectors will keep a tab on Harshal Patel, who recovered from a rib injury.

“Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be reporting to the NCA for conditioning-related work during the course of the home series against Australia and South Africa,” BCCI said in a statement.
As for Australia, they will be without David Warner on the India tour. He has been rested from the series to manage his workload. Cameron Green has been named a replacement.
