Ind vs Aus 3rd Test: Cheteshwar Pujara achieves new milestone: Cheteshwar Pujara is probably the only India batsman of this generation who can be termed as a ’true white-ball specialist’. He might not have VVS Laxman like craft and Rahul Dravid’s finesse, but when he is in the middle he has oodles of both. Pujara is once again the central figure as India chase a mammoth total of 407 runs to save the third test at SCG. Playing his usual self but with more ‘intent’, the right-handed batsman achieved a new milestone in his Test career.

Pujara has become the 11th Indian batsman to reach the milestone of 6000 runs fro 79 Test matches. It was his 135th innings in Test cricket and is the sixth fastest Indian to the milestone. Sunil Gavaskar reached 6000 Test runs in his 117th Test innings and that remains the fastest among India batsman.

Virat Kohli took two innings more to reach the batting record. Sachin Tendulkar (120), Virender Sehwag (123) and Rahul Dravid (125) are others in the list.

Pujara will be a key player for India as they try to save the third test on Day 5. Australia, courtesy of Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne’s impressive innings and Cameron Green’s quick fire, declared at 407. Both the teams are currently level at 1-1. If India win they will retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
