IND vs AUS 1st Test: Triple strike from Bumrah & co, Virat Kohli’s redemption on India’s radar on Day 2

IND vs AUS 1st Test: India will be eyeing to wrap up Australia's innings early on Day 2 and will then put the onus on Virat Kohli and co to let the bat do the talking

India will take field on Saturday with the aim of bundling out Australia for lesser than their 1st innings total in IND vs AUS 1st Test in Perth. After bowling out India for just 150 runs, the hosts found themselves at a perlious position at the end of play on Day 1, barely managing to survive while being stuck at 67/7. All eyes will be on the Indian pacers to wrap the Australian innings within the 1st session, and then of course on the Indian batters, especially the top-order which flopped in the 1st innings.

Early breakthrough for Bumrah and co.

Like the Australian pacers, their Indian counterparts tasted most of the success on Day 1 in Perth, picking 7 out of 7 wickets in just a session and a little more. Captain Jasprit Bumrah led the pack, picking up four wickets to dismantle the Australian top-order, while also missing out on a fifer, thanks to Virat Kohli dropping a sitter. While Siraj picked two wickets, debutant Harshit Rana sent Travis H/ead packing with a beauty of a delivery to bag his maiden Test wicket. The pacer trio will be aiming to make the most of the Perth surface on Day 2 to send Australia wrapping as soon as possible. Australia trail India by 83 runs.

All eyes on top-order ft. Virat Kohli

India’s top order collapsed once again, this time thanks to the might of the Australian pacers. Yashasvi Jaiswal will be aiming to get off to a better start after being dismissed for a 8-ball duck in the 1st innings. Meanwhile, an unlucky KL Rahul – who was dismissed in a controversial fashion thanks to the 3rd umpire – will be aiming to redeem himself in the 2nd innings.

However, all the attention will be on India’s most successful batter in Australia – Virat Kohli. The batting maestro was dissmissed cheaply by Josh Hazlewood, courtesy of a deliery that found extra bounce from the surface. Kohli’s poor form in Test continues and he will hope to break free from the shackles of poor form in the 2nd innings.

Devdutt Padikkal, India’s number three in place of Shubman Gill, will also be eyeing redemption after getting out for a duck in the 1st innings. Despite warding off 22 deliveries, the Karnataka batter lost his plot in the 23rd one, forcing him to walk back to the pavillion.
