With the BCCI already having named him as a captain then, it was a clear indication that Rohit was on his path to recovery as well.
In fact, he was part of the Test side when they arrived in England, but with the player tested positive ahead of the fifth Test, he was ruled out. However, Rohit having recovered well and out of isolation, he has straight away joined the India squad to prepare for the upcoming games.

The management will be happy with his availability for the T20 and ODI series. For the first T20I game, most of the Test players have been given rest as well. More importantly, there is no need to search for another captain in the T20 and ODI series.
The T20 series starts from July 7. It means that the player has much more time to get back to full fitness and lead Team India in the series.
