Selectors in India have a tough job. If a player is dropped, then there is opposition, and if a player is picked, the situation remains the same. Now, former India batter Mohammad Kaif has raised questions over the axing of Sarfaraz Khan from the squad altogether. It is important to note that he had scored his maiden 100 vs New Zealand last year, and then in the IND A series, scored a 90-odd recently.
Why No Sarfaraz Khan for England Tests?
Abhimanyu Easwaran Should Play
Kaif further added, that the management should not make another grave mistake by not playing a batter of the caliber of Abhimanyu Easwaran. He too has proved himself on multiple occasions. “Abhimanyu Easwaran deserves to be in the playing XI before Sai Sudarshan. Easwaran’s 27 first-class hundreds, almost 8k FC runs, need to be respected. By dropping Sarfraz, someone who scored runs for India A in England, the selectors made a mistake. They shouldn’t repeat it by keeping Easwaran out of the Leeds Test,” Kaif tweeted.
If that is not enough, Sarfaraz had reportedly scored a ton in the intra-squad match as well. Maybe, in case of some failures, or an injury, he should be India’s best bet as a replacement.
