IND beat WI, 3rd ODI HIGHLIGHTS: Rohit Sharma guides Team India to 3-0 in first assignment as full-time captain, defeats West Indies by 96 runs

Rohit Sharma laughed at the reporter while replying to a query regarding Virat’s form– ‘’Virat Kohli needs confidence? What are you saying?”

“Not scoring 100 is other thing, he recently played series in South Africa. He scored a couple of fifties in 3 matches. I don’t think anything is wrong and the team management is not at all worried about that,’’ he added.

  • Virat Kohli has been a pale shadow of his old self with the bat in the 3-match ODI series against the West Indies.
  • Virat Kohli could only score 8, 18 and a duck in the ODI series. The former India captain managed to score only 26 runs in three innings at an average of 8.66.
  • From the year 2020 till now Virat has played 18 ODIs scoring 702 runs at an average of 39 with 9 half-centuries and no centuries.
  • The talisman’s last international ton across formats came in a Test match on 22nd November 2019 against Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Earlier today, former India wicket-keeper batter Saba Karim also came to the defence of the talisman.

“Everyone is talking about @imVkohli poor form. But I don’t think it’s time to press the panic button. The slump in form is part and parcel of the game. Even greats like @sachin_rt and Gavaskar had to deal with the challenges of high expectations. This too shall pass! #INDvWI”

What came as a big positive, Virat Kohli wrote: “Looking forward to the t20s now”

Meanwhile, Gavaskar felt Kohli should go to ‘God of Cricket’ Sachin Tendulkar to overcome his lean patch.

“I would ask him to go to Sachin Tendulkar. If it was me, I would ask him to be patient. The quality is always there. His feet are moving, his head position is fine. There is nothing wrong with his technique. It’s just his luck. Today, it was another unlucky dismissal because the first mistake he is making is where he is going out. Sometimes, you will need a little bit of luck,” Gavaskar told during commentary with Star Sports.
