Rohit Sharma’s decision to win the toss and bowl first paid rich dividends as the Indian bowlers led by Yuzvendra Chahal put in a fine bowling performance on a Sunday afternoon in Ahmedabad. West Indies were reeling at 79/7 before Jason Holder put in a fine partnership with Fabian Allen to ensure the visitors put on a respectable total on the board.

Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick of the bowlers finishing with 4/49, while Washington Sundar enjoyed a fine comeback to the side after a year, picking up 3/30 in his nine overs. Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj were also amongst the wickets to give India the upper hand in their 1000th ODI, restricting Windies to just 176.
India were off to a strong start during the chase, bringing up 84 runs for the opening wicket. While there was a brief moment of a hiccup with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant departing in quick succession.
But Suryakumar Yadav and debutant Deepak Hooda ensured India win the match with an unbeaten half-century partnership. In the end, India won the match with six wickets to spare in 28 overs.
