Important to keep doing well: Axar Patel on completing 200 T20 wickets

On a pitch where every bowler went for plenty, Axar Patel stood out with an economical spell of 4-0-17-2 in IND vs AFG 2nd T20I.

Axar Patel has had a brilliant IND vs AFG T20I series so far. The Indian all-rounder bowled a brilliant spell on a flat deck at Holkar Stadium to restrict Afghanistan to 172.

On a pitch where every bowler went for plenty, Axar stood out with an economical spell of 4-0-17-2.

The 29-year-old also reached the 200 T20 wickets milstone during his spell.

After being adjuged Player of the Match, Axar opened up about the milestone and stated that it is important to continue the momentum.

“I just realised that I have got 200 T20 wickets. But what is important to keep doing well for India, honestly a few years later I won’t remember how many wickets I took”, Patel said in post-match presentation.

Axar revealed that he feels confident to bowl in any situation of the game even in powerplay.

“I have been trying to bowl a bit slower, vary my lengths and now I have been to gauge these things better. Now I have the confidence to bowl at all times, even in the powerplay”, the Indian all-rounder added.
