The second season of the ILT20 is reaching its business end. The premier T20 tournament that is being played in the UAE is all set to finish with a bang. Following the IPL route, ILT20 2024 will employ a similar playoff system with two Qualifiers, one Eliminator, and, of course, the Final.
With 22 of the 34 matches done and dusted, only one team (MI Emirates) has qualified for the ILT20 2024 Playoffs. The remaining five teams are in an intense 5-way fight to seal the last three spots. With eight group stage matches still left, all the remaining teams still have a shot at making the final four.
ILT20 2024 Playoffs Scenarios
Abu Dhabi Knight Riders: Currently placed second on the points table, the ADKR can even qualify for the playoffs with just one win. However, they can get two wins, and a final four spot is assured for them.
Gulf Giants: Placed third, the GG is the only other team apart from MI Emirates to have a positive net run rate. Winning all three of their matches will guarantee their playoff spot, but even two wins can see them cruise because of their superior net run rate.
Desert Vipers: Having the same points as three other teams, DV is at a disadvantage. Not only will the Vipers need to win all of their matches, but they also hope that the Dubai Capitals and Sharjah Warriors lose one match (apart from winning their fixtures against them).
Dubai Capitals: The DC will qualify if they win all of their remaining matches, but they can reach the final four with two wins against the Gulf Giants and Desert Vipers and hope that the Sharjah Warriors lose one of their three matches.
Sharjah Warriors: Placed dead last, SW has the worst net run rate in the tournament. Three wins will see them through, but two wins and DC and GG losing two of their remaining matches will also get them through.
