ICC penalises Bangladesh’s Towhid Hridoy following altercation during BAN vs SL 3rd T20I

Nuwan Thushara's brilliant bowling (5/20) led Sri Lanka to a 28-run victory in the third Twenty20 International. With this, the Lions won the three-game T20I series 2-1.

Bangladesh’s batsman Towhid Hridoy incurred a 15% fine of his match fees following the third T20I match. Hridoy was found in breach of Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the clash against Sri Lanka in Sylhet. The incident unfolded during the fourth over of Bangladesh’s innings when Hridoy, after being dismissed, engaged in aggressive and inappropriate remonstration with the Sri Lankan players.

The altercation stemmed from a remarkable delivery by Nuwan Thushara, who was eyeing a hat trick and dismissed Hridoy for a golden duck. As Hridoy walked off the field, Sri Lankan players taunted him, prompting his displeasure.

Despite his frustration, on-field umpires intervened to prevent further escalation. Some Sri Lankan players also approached Hridoy in an attempt to defuse the situation, as tensions ran high at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
