Cricket Boards New Fad – Bilateral Bye Bye, Yes to Quadrangular Events: According to a report by Cricbuzz, the ECB has made a pitch for quadrangular tournaments.
It is worth noting that PCB has already come in open to declare they want to host 4 nation event involving India, England, Australia beside Pakistan. PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja will officially make a presentation on the event in ICC Meeting on Sunday evening.
But even before Ramiz could make his presentation, Tom Harrison, the CEO of the ECB made a presentation in the Chief Executives Committee meeting for a four nation event. According to Harrison, the members should be be allowed to organize four-nation championships at convenient windows.
It is worth noting that the current ICC rules restrict the multi-lateral engagements to only triangular events.
ECB’s push was backed by the Cricket West Indies as well who also want to host a 4 nation event.
Raja, meanwhile, will make his presentation on Sunday.
Will BCCI back the 4 Nations events? BCCI is yet to officially announce their stand on the new propositions.
Before leaving for the ICC Meeting, a top BCCI member told InsideSport that they will hear out the proposal and give their view point only after that.
