I don’t know: Sourav Ganguly surprised why Ishan Kishan didn’t play Ranji Trophy

After BCCI Central Contract Snub, Sourav Ganguly questions why Ishan Kishan didn't play domestic crickeyt

Former India Cricket Team captain Sourav Ganguly has expressed his surprise over Ishan Kishan. The southpaw lost out on his BCCI Central Contract for missing out on playing Domestic Matches. Sourav Ganguly has expressed his surprise as to why Ishan Kishan didn’t play domestic matches for Jharkhand.

Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer both missed out on BCCI Central Contracts for missing domestic matches. As a result, the duo will be unable to play any matches for Team India. This is concerning, given that ICC T20 World Cup is just 3 months away.

“You are supposed to play first class cricket. Once you are a contracted player, you are expected to play the Premier tournament. Shreyas Iyer is playing the semi-final for Mumbai in a couple of days’ time. Yes, they are young people and Ishan has surprised me,” Sourav Ganguly told RevSportz.

Since his return to India, Ishan Kishan stayed aloof. On the other hand, despite being axed, Ishan Kishan is slated to play Ranji Trophy semi finals for Mumbai. Ganguly questioned why Ishan Kishan didn’t play a single Ranji match for Jharkhand.

“He was part of the Indian team in all formats. Such a big contract in IPL. I don’t know why he has done that. You must play especially when you are as gifted as Ishan Kishan. When you are playing for India in all formats, you must play. I was surprised by his decision not to,” Ganguly added.
