The Indian hockey team will be aiming for the title win after 47 years. The three times champions India lifted their last trophy in the 1975 edition.
The FIH Men’s World Cup 2023 gets underway in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela from January 13. The tournament will be played till January 29. The upcoming edition in India will be the 15th edition of the prestigious hockey event.
India will host the Hockey World Cup for the fourth time in history. The country played host to the event in 1982, 2010 and 2018 editions. The 16 teams participating teams have been divided into four groups with India in Pool D alongside England, Spain, and Wales. Bhubaneswar will host 24 matches, including cross-overs, quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals, while Rourkela will host 20 matches.

The FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup starts today at 1 PM. A total of 16 teams will fight for the next 17 days to become the best team in the world. Host India takes on tricky Spain in their opening encounter in Rourkela at 7 PM. On Fantastic Friday, there will be four BLOCKBUSTER games for fans to enjoy. In the opening match of the World Cup Argentina takes on South Africa at 1 PM.
