Finn Allen has started the third season of the Major League Cricket (MLC) in the best possible fashion. The San Francisco Unicorns star has broken all kinds of records with his mayhem at the Oakland Coliseum, California.
The Washington Freedom bowlers, led by Glenn Maxwell, were at the receiving end of the fastest century in MLC history as Allen clubbed his second ton in the tournament’s history in just 34 balls. This is now also the quickest any New Zealander has scored a hundred in T20 history, surpassing Martin Guptill’s previous record of 35 balls.
Finn Allen hits 150 in 49 balls
SFU have a dangerous top three that includes Finn Allen, Tim Seifert and Jake Fraser-McGurk. However, both Seifert (18) and JFM (6) flopped in the opening clash against Washington on Friday, June 13. However, Allen alone did something extraordinary as he single-handedly took his side to a gigantic 232 in just 17 overs!
It all started when Allen hit a cheeky six off Ben Sears to get his innings going in the first over. From then on, it was no looking back for the Kiwi batter, who smashed boundaries with utter disdain. While the Washington bowlers were extremely poor with their lines, Allen was commanding and asserted his dominance with aplomb. He got to his fifty in 20 balls before all hell broke loose.
There was a period of time when Allen clubbed seven sixes in nine balls! Everything went into the crowd. Allen got his century in just 34 balls, breaking Nicholas Pooran’s record for fastest MLC century. The former West Indian player got it in 40 balls during the MLC 2023 final.
As if it wasn’t enough, Allen continued his onslaught and clubbed his next fifty in just 15 more balls. In doing so, he broke Dewald Brevis’ record for hitting the fastest 150 in a T20 game (in 49 balls). The mayhem finally came to an end when Glenn Phillips holed him out at long on off the bowling of Mitchell Owen. Allen’s innings of 151 off 51 ended at an insane strike rate of 296.08 and was laced with five fours and 19 sixes, which is now also the most in any T20 innings ever!
