The ongoing issue between the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) and Sanju Samson might be resolved soon, according to KCA chief Jayesh George. Recently, there has been tension between KCA and Samson, as he missed the Vijay Hazare Trophy camp, leading to his exclusion from the Kerala team for the tournament. His absence from the India team has also been linked to skipping the Vijay Hazare camp, resulting in his possible snub from ICC Champions Trophy.
Sanju’s absence in the Kerala team
Sanju Samson had informed KCA about his unavailability, but KCA chief Jayesh George mentioned that Samson only sent a brief message saying he wouldn’t attend the training camp. The association expected Sanju to lead the team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Since the fallout with KCA, Samson has reportedly been approached by cricket associations in Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.

Future possibilities
In an interview with MyKhel, KCA chief Jayesh George suggested that Samson could return to the Kerala team, provided he meets certain conditions. George stated, “Sanju is currently in Kolkata and will be playing against England. There is nothing more to say regarding this. But he will be in the Kerala team again if he attends the camps. If he misses the camp, he will be left out.”
Sanju’s current role in Kerala
Sanju Samson previously led Kerala in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and might play for them in the Ranji Trophy. The last match he played was on 3 December 2024, where he captained the side against Andhra Pradesh in SMAT. The 30-year-old hasn’t been named in India’s squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy, but he is donning the Indian Team jersey in five T20I series against England. Talking about IPL 2025, he will lead the Rajasthan Royals in the tournament.
