Ashutosh Sharma’s explosive knock against the Mumbai Indians (MI) has propelled him into the conversation for the title of best finisher in IPL 2024.

Coming in at number eight for Punjab Kings (PBKS), who were in dire straits at 111/7, Ashutosh smashed a scintillating 61 off just 28 balls. His immaculate innings single-handedly turned the tide of the match. Though PBKS fell short by nine runs in their chase of 193, his innings was the scintillating to witness.

He launched a brutal assault on the MI bowling attack, smashing seven sixes and two fours. His knock not only propelled PBKS back into contention but also announced his arrival on the big stage. Notably, this was his maiden IPL fifty, scored off a mere 23 balls.

Ashutosh Sharma – the best find of IPL 2024 so far?

This wasn’t Ashutosh’s first impactful performance this season. In a previous match against Gujarat Titans, he played a crucial cameo of 31 runs off 16 balls, helping PBKS secure a close victory.

He entered the match with an already impressive strike rate of nearly 198. After his heroics against MI, his overall IPL 2024 tally stands at a staggering 156 runs at a phenomenal strike rate of 205.26. This meteoric rise has many believing he could be the answer to PBKS’s finishing woes.

Despite PBKS’ defeat, Sharma’s knock has left a lasting impression. He has not only proven himself to be a valuable asset for his team but has also emerged as a contender for the title of best finisher in IPL 2024.
