‘Had a lot of talk with Rahul sir and Rohit bhai on…’: Humble Jaiswal reveals

Yashasvi Jaiswal highlighted the importance of adapting his approach based on the situation and learning from senior players during net sessions.

India vs England 4th Test: Yashasvi Jaiswal, the rising star of India cricket team, continued his phenomenal run in the ongoing Test series against England, scoring a crucial 73 runs on Day 2 of the Ranchi Test. However, Jaiswal remained grounded despite his personal milestones and praised the guidance of seniors like Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid for his success.

Records tumble as Yashasvi Jaiswal shines:

Jaiswal’s fifty helped India reach 219/7 at the end of Day 2. During his knock, he achieved several remarkable feats:

  • Most runs in the series: Yashasvi Jaiswal currently leads the run-scorer charts in this series with a staggering 618 runs in seven innings.
  • Elite company: He became the third Indian after Virat Kohli and Rahul Dravid to score 600+ runs in a Test series against England.
  • Youngest achiever: He joined an elite group of cricketers, including legends like Don Bradman and Gavaskar, to score 600+ runs in a Test series before turning 23.
  • Six-hitting king: His solitary six in the Ranchi innings surpassed Virender Sehwag’s record for most sixes in a calendar year (22 in 2008). Jaiswal has already hit 23 sixes in just two months of 2024.

Jaiswal credits Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma:

Despite these impressive achievements, Yashasvi Jaiswal remained humble and attributed his success to the guidance of senior teammates and the head coach:

“It’s been nice and challenging as well,” Jaiswal told hosts broadcasters ahead of Day 3. “I’ve been trying to learn how to play on different wickets and make sure that I stay for a long time. I’ve had a lot of talk with Rahul sir [Dravid] and Rohit bhai [Sharma] on how to change my mindset…”

Yashasvi Jaiswal highlighted the importance of adapting his approach based on the situation and learning from senior players during net sessions.

Looking Ahead:

While England still hold the upper hand, Jaiswal remains optimistic and looks forward to contributing further in the remaining days of the Test.

Jaiswal’s humility and hunger for improvement, coupled with his phenomenal run of form, make him an exciting prospect for Indian cricket. His ability to learn from experienced players and adapt to different conditions bodes well for his future.
