GT coach provides big update on pacer Kagiso Rabada, IPL 2025 still not over for the South African

ON April 3, Kagiso Rabada had left for home citing personal reasons, after just playing two matches for GT in IPL 2025.

After just playing two matches for GT in IPL 2025, South African pacer Kagiso Rabada had to head back home, due to some personal issues. While many believed that the speedster won’t come back, and the team would announce for a replacement, that is not to be. On Friday, team’s assistant coach Ashish Kapoor made a revelation on Rabada, on the eve of the GT vs DC match.

No Replacement for Kagiso Rabada, Could be Back

“We picked Dasun Shanaka as the replacement for Glenn Phillips, but I don’t know about the replacement for Kagiso Rabada, that’s news to me. We are just waiting for him, he might just return,” Kapoor told reporters during a press conference. “There is a chance that he might join, but he has got some family problem, for which he has gone. Once he is sorted out with that in time, he’ll be back. We don’t know when, and we’re just waiting as everyone else.”

Prasidh Krishna & Mohammed Siraj Excellent for GT in IPL 2025

Rabada in his two matches picked as many wickets, and didn’t look at his very best. But in his absence too, the Shubman Gill-led side has found ways to deliver on the field. Pacers Prasidh Krishna, and Mohammed Siraj have been excellent, and so has spinner Sai Kishore. The fast-bowling duo have picked up 10 wickets each in 6 matches, while Sai has has repeated the same effort.

As a result, GT are in second place in the IPL 2025 points table, with four wins in six matches, while DC top the list with five wins in six matches.
