Got areas to work on: Alyssa Healy remains humble after easy win in 1st ODI

Healy herself scored a duck, but three of the six Australian batters scored fifties to win the match by six wickets.

Despite resistance from the India women’s cricket team in the first innings, visitors Australia claimed a 1-0 series lead without breaking a sweat. Set a target of 283 in the IND vs AUS Women’s 1st ODI, Alyssa Healy and Co. cruised to the target despite skipper Healy falling for a duck in the very first over.

After the match, Alyssa Healy admitted that they let the game get away from them at the end of the first innings of the IND W vs AUS W 1st ODI. The wicketkeeper batter confessed that they let the India women’s cricket team make 30 more runs than they would have liked and aim to work on it in the next couple of matches.

“Great night for us, great to get off to a win at the start of the series and lots to play for. I thought we could have kept them around to 250, they put a really good total and I thought their batting group cruised in at the back end, we got areas to work on.”

On how they approached the 283-run target, Healy credited their style of play and admitted dew also helped them as the game went on.

It’s just about playing straight with the bat, we don’t really sweep too much, and probably helps when the ball is skidding on a little bit. We just played our natural game with the bat.
