Going to sell on black?’ Fans frustrated with ODI World Cup Tickets management

The ICC World Cup 2023 ticket sale began on August 25 with excitement but turned disappointing due to mismanagement.

The anticipation for the ICC World Cup 2023 has been met with frustration and disappointment as the sale of tickets finally kicked off, revealing a tale of mismanagement that left countless fans disheartened. Hopes were high as fans eagerly logged onto the official website BookMyShow on Friday, eager to secure their ODI World Cup 2023 Tickets. However, what followed was a series of glitches and setbacks that dampened the spirits of cricket enthusiasts worldwide.

World Cup 2023

The much-awaited ticket sale was marred by technical difficulties, with the official website failing to function effectively for a significant period of time, stretching to an exasperating 35 to 40 minutes. This unforeseen hurdle not only tested the patience of the fans but also resulted in missed opportunities for many, as the limited window for securing tickets further dwindled. The frustration was palpable as fans took to social media platforms to express their dismay, venting about the missed chances and the perceived lack of preparedness on the part of the event organizers.

Adding salt to the wound, fans reported that no tickets had been sold to MasterCard holders. Prior to the official commencement of ticket sales on BookMyShow for the ICC World Cup 2023, a day-long window was exclusively provided to cardholders, granting them the opportunity to secure their tickets in advance. This left many ardent supporters in despair, especially considering that key matches, including four out of nine Pakistan matches and the high-stakes England vs Australia clash, were reportedly sold out before non-MasterCard holders could even get a shot at purchasing tickets. Both the BCCI and ICC have meticulously planned the ticket sales process, opting for a phased approach. As of August 25, tickets for all participating teams, excluding India, have been up for sale.

The sale of India’s match tickets will commence on August 30. Anticipation is soaring, particularly for the IND vs PAK clash, which is anticipated to be a monumental showdown. Fans have already taken measures to secure their presence, even securing hotel accommodation at inflated rates to ensure they don’t miss witnessing this epic encounter.
