Royal Challengers Bangalore have seen quite a few captains since the inception of the Indian Premier League. In fact, RCB has seen a total of 7 captains in the 17 year journey. Former India skipper Virat Kohli has captained the side for majority of the matches. But since the last 2 seasons, Faf du Plessis is at the helm of leading the Bangalore outfits.

Royal Challengers Bangalore will be headed by Faf du Plessis in 2014 as RCB chase their maiden IPL trophy. Though RCB have had some named captains in their ranks, the trophy has eluded RCB since 2008.

RCB began their IPL campaign with Indian legend Rahul Dravid leading the side. But Dravid’s stint as the captain of the team was great. In fact he managed to register just 4 victories from 14 games. The next season former English skipper Kevin Pietersen took charge. He managed to captain the side for 6 matches where he managed to win just 2 games.

Anil Kumble next took charge of the Bangalore outfits. Out of his 35 matches as the skipper of the team, he managed to win 19 games with a win percentage of 54.28, the highest ever by an RCB skipper. Daniel Vettori too captained the side for 28 matches and enjoyed 15 runs under his belt.

The laurels go to Virat Kohli who captained the team for a record of 143 matches. In between in 2017, Shane Watson captained the side for 3 games. Kohli ultimately left his captaincy ahead of the 2022 campaign. Kohli managed 66 wins with a good win percentage of 48.56.

Faf du Plessis is the latest captain of the team. He has has managed the side for 27 games where he managed to win a total of 14 games. Can Du Plessis break RCB’s jinx in 2024?
