In what could be a starting point, in his long journey to redemption, forgotten India pacer Chetan Sakariya has joined Team KKR, a few days ahead of IPL 2025. The left-arm pacer went unsold at the IPL Auction last year, but now has been bagged by the team, albeit as a net bowler.
KKR Rope in Chetan Sakariya for IPL 2025
The 27-year-old was with the KKR last year as well, but didn’t get a game, and was later released by the team. Till now, in his IPL career he has played 19 matches and picked up 20 wickets. It seems like, as per a report in RevSportz, Chetan Sakariya is on a comeback trail from a major wrist injury, and was being treated by NCA-recommended, Dr. Sudhir Warrier.
Post his recovery, he was spotted by KKR bowling coach Bharat Arun, at a T20 tournament in Mumbai. While financially the bowler might not gain much, but then bowling under the watchful eyes of Arun, might just revive Chetan Sakariya’s career. Apart from that, during training sessions, he would have the company of established bowlers like Harshit Rana, Andre Russell, and Anrich Nortje.
Went Unsold at IPL Auction
Chetan last played for India in 2021, and has played two T20Is and an ODI for the country, bagging three wickets in all. In 2021, he had a remarkable season for RR in the IPL, where he picked up 14 wickets in as many matches, and brought him to the Indian team.
