Heat! Not just in Dubai in the India vs. Pakistan match in the ICC Champions Trophy. People seem to be claiming that matches between the arch-rivals have been too friendly. As soon as Gautam Gambhir became the India cricket team’s head coach, the spice returned. The former opener was known for his fiery behaviour on the field, especially in the India vs. Pakistan matches.
Rizwan shoulder barges Harshit Rana
Gambhir’s protégé Harshit Rana has continued that tradition. In the ICC Champions Trophy, the pacer and Pakistan’s captain, Mohammad Rizwan, collided. On the last ball of the 21st over, Rizwan pulled a short ball to deep square leg, and while completing the run, shoulder barged Harshit.
It didn’t look like the pacer was in Rizwan’s path, but the Pakistan captain chose to tell the youngster to stay in his lane. Harshit wasn’t amused. He gave the wicketkeeper a mean look, and aptly, the camera panned to Gambhir, who was watching this unfold from the balcony.

India vs Pakistan: Infamous Gambhir vs Shahid Afridi fight
For those who have forgotten, Gambhir and former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi had gotten into a fight in Kanpur. Back in 2007, while taking a run, the Indian head coach had elbowed Afridi. The all-rounder wasn’t pleased. Rizwan and Harshit didn’t make a fuss, but Gambhir and Afridi had started abusing each other and almost came to fisticuffs before the umpire separated them.
The situation wasn’t worse here, but the fire that everyone was saying had gone missing from the India vs. Pakistan matches seems to have returned.
