Fatima Sana isn't just Pakistan's captain but their best bowler and most destructive hitter.

Pakistan women’s cricket team captain Fatima Sana has sustained a blow to her right knee during practice on the eve of the India vs Pakistan match in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. The all-rounder was bowling to Ayesha Zafar in the nets when the batter hit a shot straight back at her.

Fatima Sana hit on the knee

Fatima was hit on the knee and collapsed in her follow-through. As the Pakistan captain winced in pain, her teammates and physios came rushing towards her. She was taken out and didn’t return to the nets after that. However, Fatima didn’t leave. She watched the proceedings from the sidelines while icing her right knee.

Fit for IND vs PAK match

After a 45-minute break, Fatima was able to walk on her own without any visible pain or struggle. After Pakistan’s practice concluded, Fatima was asked about her knee. The Pakistan captain played down the incident and stated it was nothing more than a simple blow to the leg and that she’ll take the field against India at Edgbaston on June 14.

“It was just a normal hit of the ball. Ayesha baaji (elder sister) played the shot and hit me on the knee. I think it’s good now. Hopefully (I’ll be good tomorrow),” she told reporters in Birmingham.

Pakistan doesn’t match well against India. They have a 3-13 record against their arch-rivals in Women’s T20Is. However, without Fatima, they don’t stand a chance at all. Since the last edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2024, Fatima has been Pakistan’s player.

The all-rounder is the second-highest wicket-taker, with 13 wickets in 11 innings. She’s also their highest scorer and has the highest average and strike rate (335 runs at 55.83 and 183.06) among all batters.
