The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to decide on the central contracts on Sunday. As per reports, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia is scheduled to hold discussions with chief selector Ajit Agarkar and head coach Gautam Gambhir on Sunday on the sidelines of CSK vs RR tie in IPL 2025. The announcement of the central contracts, which usually happens before the IPL, has been delayed this time. Earlier, reports had claimed that the BCCI was waiting for the Champions Trophy to conclude in order to decide on the contratcs.
When will BCCI central contracts be finalized?
As per Dainik Jagaran, the BCCI secretary will meet Gambhir and Agarkar on Sunday to dis cuss the central contracts. The delay in the announcement was because India’s head coach Gambhir wasn’t available for discussions. However, the report claimed that that a top BCCI decision-maker’s right-hand has already enquired about the contracts via telephonic conversations with the team management and chief selector.
Further, the report states that the board and the team management aren’t on the same page over deciding on the contracts yet. The meeting on March 30 is expected to break the deadlock.
Support staff to be downsized?
The report claims that Gautam Gambhir’s support staff could be downsized. Fielding coach T Dilip, who has been with the team for four years now, is expected to lose his position. Meanwhile, the report states that new additions including Gambhir, Morkel, Doeschate and Nayar among other members are expected to retain their contracts. The BCCI is reportedly planning to bring in some replacements while also downsize the support staff.
