  • Chris Silverwood was sacked following a 4-0 loss in the Ashes against Australia.
  • Paul Collingwood took charge as interim head coach in the West Indies. England team was crushed by the West Indies 1-0.

Former England all-rounder Collingwood insisted he was interested in the full-time role despite the loss in the Caribbean, saying: ‘I’ve put my hat in the ring and if they want us they know where I am.

‘I haven’t got much experience as a head coach but you would never get a job if that’s the case. I feel as though what I’ve done over the last few weeks is a good start but it’s only a start. If I was to take this team forward I’d want to make them a lot better as quickly as possible.’

England Test Team Coach: Naseer Hussain back Ricky Ponting as England team coach

According to former test skipper Naseer Hussain, Ricky Ponting is the best man possible to take reigns of England test team. Hussain in an article for The Daily Mail has said, that England cricket needs some important & much needed changes.

Hussain has insisted following changes –

  • Rob Key as director of cricket,
  • Ricky Ponting as Test coach and
  • Ben Stokes as captain

According to Hussain these changes will add STEEL to soft England and get them moving back up the rankings again

“For me, there is no finer brain in cricket at the moment than Ricky Ponting. He reads the game so well. One minute he’s on commentary highlighting the problems with Australian all-rounder Cameron Green’s technique, the next Green is getting out exactly as Ponting predicted”, wrote Hussain in the article.

England next feature in red-ball cricket when they take on Test world champions New Zealand in a two-match series in June.
