England can’t pick squad for Pakistan tour as uncertainty lies over availability of stadiums

Pakistan vs England: Brendon McCullum's side is scheduled to play three Tests in the series, starting Oct 7.

The PAK vs ENG Test series is scheduled to begin from October 7, and the reports of matches being moved to another country, has left the visiting team in distress, as per Cricket Pakistan. Due to the ongoing repair and construction work in Pakistan, due to the Champions Trophy 2025, the ECB is awaiting confirmation, if all the proposed venues for the Test series be available or not.

The venues decided for the PAK vs ENG series are Multan, Karachi and Rawalpindi. As per another report, one or more matches could be shifted to the UAE or Sri Lanka. England coach Brendon McCullum said during a press conference, “We don’t really know what’s happening in Pakistan but we can’t select a team until we know where we are going to play. It would be nice if, over the next couple of days, we found out.”

“Then we’ll sit down and make sure we’ve got the right team for the right conditions and the right opposition,” he further added. Interestingly, England did not tour Pakistan for 17 years, from 2005 to 2022 due to security reason. UAE had hosted all of Pakistan’s home Tests during that time.
