England captain Jos Buttler opted against batting with Phil Salt partnering Alex Hales at the top. The move did not pay dividends as Salt was cleaned up Naseem Shah in just the second over.

Ben Stokes came in and took the attack to the opposition hitting to all parts of the fence. While Alex Hales laboured on the other end, Stokes batted freely slamming three sixes in his 18 ball stay.

Liam Livingstone and Harry Brook then took the game away with some splendid power hitting,  leaving no hopes for a Pakistan comeback. Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz conceded 67 in their four overs as both England stars went on a six hitting spree.

The duo were helped by some sloppy fielding, with Livingstone being dropped twice before departing for 28. Sam Curran joined the party and hit three sixes to finish the game off in the 15th over.

Earlier  Pakistan strung a surprise at the toss with Shadab Khan confirming that both Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan were resting for the match. Shan Masood and Haider Ali got them off to a flyer but England clawed back with regular wickets.

Barring Shan Masood, none of the batters went past 30 as Pakistan stuttered in the middle overs. It took a late cameo from Mohammed Wasim Jr to take Pakistan past 150, eventually reaching to 160/8.
